‘Any unauthorised crossing into Pakistan will be considered hostile’

Washington: Major General Athar Abbas, head of the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate, is quoted in the current issue of Time magazine as warning that anyone crossing into Pakistan will be “seen as hostile or in an offensive posture”. According to the report, “Major General Athar Abbas told Time that Pakistani troops would hereafter shoot at any force coming across the border. Any Americans making the crossing, he warned, should not expect Pakistani soldiers to ask questions before shooting. ‘At the level of a (border) post (Pakistani troops) are not to be given shades of an order ... they’re supposed to engage.’” khalid hasan
