ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said the PML-N will announce its new party president on Tuesday (today). Talking to media persons in Islamabad on Monday, she said the central executive committee and the central working committee of the party will meet to hold discussions on the election of the new party president, Radio Pakistan reported. She said Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif was the most competent and appropriate person for the slot given his political acumen and performance in the province. Responding to a question, the minister said that the party will secure majority in the upcoming Senate elections. She said targeting a single party was tantamount to undermining the whole parliamentary process. She said the PML-N stands completely united and that not a single member has parted ways with it. Responding to a question, Marriyum said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan was resorting to false allegations against Punjab’s bureaucracy. Regretting arrest of Ahad Cheema on the basis of mere allegations, she said the Punjab government has the record of each penny spent for the public welfare. Earlier, speaking at the ceremony the minister called upon the provinces to make necessary investments to deal with the consequences of climate change. She said, “We need to invest in research, communities affected by disasters and transfer of technology.” Media, especially radio, can play an important role in creating awareness about the climate issues, she added.
