Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad on Thursday gave inkling that he may approach the Supreme Court over conceding the chairmanship of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to Shehbaz Sharif. Speaking at a press conference, the federal minister reiterated his reservations over the decision of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government to accept the name of the Opposition Leader in National Assembly for the coveted chairmanship of PAC. Referring to the apex court’s decision in a suo motu case against the lease of railways land, Sheikh Rasheed said, “This day is one of the biggest days in the history of Railway and the Railway workers are grateful to Chief Justice Saqib Nisar, for resolving a matter which was stuck for last 10 years.” It is pertinent to mention that the SC bench nullified all orders of the Lahore High Court in railway land case and remarked, “We are imposing a ban on an over three-year lease of railways’ agricultural land and the construction of housing societies on railways land.” The top court has also dissolved the administration of Royal Palm Country & Golf Club after seizing their records.
