The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday, issuing a notice to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), summoned detailed report from the Kot Lakhpat prison’s superintendent. A two-judge bench comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani heard the bail petition filed by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on medical grounds. As the hearing started, Nawaz Sharif’s counsel Khawaja Harris, while providing arguments for the application to be worthy of hearing, claimed that the new medical report of his client [Nawaz Sharif] was issued on January 22. When questioned by Justice Amir regarding the formation of a new medical board, the lawyer responded that he has not heard anything of that sort from an authentic source except television channels. The bench instructed Khawaja Harris to go through the medical report of his client. Consequently, he read the report aloud and said, “As per the issued report, Nawaz Sharif’s kidney is diagnosed with a third-stage disease.” Later, the court, while adjourning the hearing of the bail plea till February 06, sought report of the special medical board that examined the former prime minister and also issued notices to the relevant parties.
