LAHORE: Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday issued notices on an application, seeking contempt proceedings against Maryam Nawaz for allegedly issuing statements against the judiciary. The judge sought a reply from the respondent till December 20. The application was moved in a pending case against alleged statements issued against the judiciary by Nawaz Sharif. Applicant’s counsel Muhammad Azhar Siddique said that the judiciary had jurisdiction over all issues of judicial nature and exclusive authority to decide all issues either political or apolitical. He stated that there should not be any inappropriate or unwarranted interference in judicial process, nor judicial decisions or observations passed by the courts. “Since the commencement of trial in accountability court, Maryam has been making remarks against the judiciary,” he said.
