KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-Functional leader and MPA Nand Kumar has submitted a resolution on Wednesday regarding the development of Gorakh Hills and the failure of non evolution till now, due to corruption. Nand Kumar in his resolution stated that the approach road to Gorakh Hills’ is in very bad condition which may cause major accidents. “Lack of progress on important tourism places in the province should be debated in the provincial assembly. He added that details of the development budget spent on Gorakh Hills should be disclosed to the public and how the concerned officials are responsible for the backwardness of the overall area of Gorakh Hills Station. PML-Functional leader said that development work should be carried out with heavy budget from approach road to Gorakh Hills Station. The Sindh Assembly after long debate and discussions passed Gorakh Hills Development Authority (Amendment) Bill 2013. The assembly also announced a number of development schemes under the bill for Gorakh Hills to attract tourists. It is worth adding here that budget of Rs 80 million was approved in 2016-17 for Gorakh Hills Development Authority. The said budget was approved by Sindh Minister for Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Department Syed Sardar Ali Shah but no development of resorts has been witnessed yet. He announced at that time that the department would organize different seminars for investors and tourists at Gorakh Hills. The minister added, solar power plant system for eight tourist huts available there would be installed besides a water supply line and other facilities would be provided. He had claimed that the construction of Family Huts, Mosque, Circuit House, Amusement Park, and staff quarters were in process and it was hoped that they would be completed soon.
