Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday made it clear that his party had always been against the politics of sit-ins, and added that his meeting with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman was expected soon. “Our stance on Azadi March is clear. We are against the politics of sit-ins,” he said while addressing a press conference in Mirpur after meeting the victims of earthquake. Speaking on the occasion, he termed Prime Minister Imran Khan’s speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) a good one, but added that the premier’s entire focus should have been on the Kashmir issue. “The prime minister should have demanded democratic rights and right to self-determination for people of Occupied Kashmir,” he said. The PPP chairman said that the compensation being given to the affected people was not enough, and urged the federal government to increase the amount. He also said that doctors and paramedical staff were required at the hospitals. He said that becoming an ambassador of Kashmir “doesn’t mean a single tweet or just a speech”, and wondered how many countries the premier had visited to highlight the Kashmir issue during the last 50 days. Earlier, Bilawal arrived in the earthquake-hit Azad Kashmir. As a gesture of solidarity with the quake victims, the PPP leader visited Mirpur District Hospital where he inquired about the health of the victims.
