Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar paid a surprise visit to Dera Ghazi Khan from Islamabad last evening and reviewed different matters including the cleanliness situation in DG Khan city. He directed the administration to further improve the cleanliness arrangements. Afterward, he presided over an emergency meeting about development schemes at the office of Commissioner DG Khan where Commissioner Asad Ullah Faiz gave a briefing about the progress made on development projects. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that timely completion of development schemes relating to DG Khan and other backward areas should be ensured and made it clear that he will personally monitor development projects of deprived areas. He also directed to ensure transparency and quality of work adding that he will review facilities provided to the people by paying surprise visits to different cities of the province. The Chief Minister said that there is no room for work shirker officers and officials and they should better quit their posts. He said that revenue employees working consecutively at a place for three years should be replaced and the officers should perform their duties as a noble cause. He also took notice of delay in the completion of development schemes and directed to remove the impediments. The poor cleanliness arrangements in DG Khan and Fort Munro should be improved, he added. The meeting was asked to explain about non-construction of bridge, road and rescue-1122 building in Barthi and the Chief Minister directed that restoration of parks in Taunsa and DG Khan should be immediately started. The PHA should also complete the restoration work of entry and exits points of DG Khan along with repair and maintenance of different roads in Taunsa and DG Khan. Along with it, identification of land for Taunsa industrial estate and matters pertaining to its establishment should be completed early. He hoped that small industrial estate project to be established at an area of 400 Kanal in Taunsa will prove as a game-changer initiative. The Chief Minister directed to early transfer the gynae ward to its expanded building in DG Khan and further directed for the comprehensive publicity about Mir Chakar Khan Rind University project. He asked to establish health camps in Koh-e- Suleman tehsil and other far-flung areas along with the provision of ambulance service and also asked to ensure provision of necessary medicines in health centers. The meeting reviewed the arrangements of holding tourists festival and construction of tourists resort in Koh-e-Suleman. He said that the Shehar-e-Khamoshan project should be completed soon and implementation on the e-transfer policy of teachers should be ensured as well. He directed the DG Khan administration to take prompt steps to deal with the possible threat of flood and directed the Commissioner and DC to conduct field visits for reviewing flood relating arrangements. The meeting also reviewed progress on the shelter-home project in Taunsa and DG Khan Teaching Hospital and the Chief Minister was apprised about progress on the construction of police stations of border military police. Availability of doctors and paramedical staff should be ensured and best facilities be arranged in darul amaan model children’s home. I will visit teaching hospital and other institutions to personally review the state of affairs, concluded the Chief Minister. The meeting was attended by Commissioner and other concerned officers. Meanwhile, Buzdar met with Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani at Parliament House Islamabad on Monday. During the meeting, various matters of mutual interest including the development process and important national affairs came under discussion. Chairman Senate said that upper house of the parliament represents federation adding that this house will continue to raise the voice of the federating units in an effective manner so that the disfranchised segments of the society could be brought into the national mainstream of development. He said that the solution of problems lies in democracy and added that we all have to play our role for the continuity of the democratic process. He reiterated that the upper house of the parliament is vigorously working for the development of federating units and the protection of rights of backward segments of the society. In this regard, provincial governments will be provided every possible support, he added. There is a need for harmony between federal and provincial governments and the Senate will continue to play its leading role in this regards, concluded Sadiq Sanjrani. Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said that elected representatives of Punjab have full confidence over Chairman Senate and we have full confidence that opposition’s no-confidence motion will be unsuccessful. Instead of weakening the democratic process through differences, it is the right time to ensure the implementation of the national development agenda aiming at promoting national unity and coherence. He said that Chairman Senate is vigorously striving for the protection of rights of provincial units and his role is pivotal for arranging unity among the provinces. Usman Buzdar also apprised the Chairman Senate about the steps taken for socio-economic development of the province. Separately, Buzdar felicitated the position-holder students of matriculation examination and added that toppers have brought laurels home with their hard work. The bright students are the precious asset of the nation and the future of Pakistan is attached with bright and hardworking students, he added. The parents and teachers also deserve the accolade and I extend congratulations to them as well. Government will continue to work for the encouragement of intelligent students and I pray to Allah Almighty that the position-holders may get more successes in future, concluded the Chief Minister. Meanwhile, Buzdar took notice of rape-cum-murder of a ten-year-old child in Batapur and sought a report from CCPO Lahore. He directed to arrest the accused at the earliest adding that elements involved in such gruesome incident deserve strict punishment. He has also extended sympathies to the bereaved family and assured that justice will be provided to them at every cost. Buzdar also expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the loss of precious human lives and property in a flood in Leswa at Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad. Chief Minister condoled and expressed heartfelt sympathies with the heirs of the deceased. The Chief Minister said that he equally shares the grief of family members of the deceased and stand with them in their time of trial. He also prayed for the early recovery of those who are still missing.
