The list of 6,047 employees, who had been working under the administrative control of the health department of the Sindh government, has been forwarded by the Section Officer (Automation) to the Accountant General (AG) of Sindh for putting an immediate halt to their salaries as they have failed to appear for biometric verification at the automation unit of the health department in Karachi. Reportedly, 315 employees in the list belong to Larkana district. As soon as the list went viral on social media, it made a fuss as it allegedly contained names of many employees who had either retired from government services on account of attaining the age of superannuation i.e. (60 years) or expired. Purportedly, the list has been forwarded without a final verification from concerned medical superintendents or district health officers (DHOs) posted in Sindh. Chandka Medical College Hospital, Larkana, medical superintendent informed the media that he had contacted the Section Officer who told him that mistakenly previous year’s list was sent to the AG. He said that the automation unit has been preparing a new list of employees in consultation with the department of Finance, and it would be forwarded to all medical superintendents and DHOs in Sindh for final verification of the employees who were yet to appear for biometric verification of their jobs. The AG office would halt salaries of ghost employees after receiving the verified list from them. Published in Daily Times, October 19th 2018.
