ISLAMABAD: Iran and Pakistan will formally sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) soon to enhance cooperation in the fields of literature, arts and culture. According to Iranian news agency IRNA, the cooperation was agreed between Pakistan’s Adviser to Prime Minister on National History & Literary Heritage Irfan Siddiqui and Cultural Counsellor of Iranian Embassy in Pakistan Shahabuddin Daraei during a meeting. Shahabuddin Daraei invited Pakistan PM’s adviser to Tehran for signing the MoU. Irfan Siddiqui said Pakistan and Iran were tied in a religious, historical, cultural and civilisational bond which required enhancing cooperation on literary and cultural fronts as well. Both the countries also share the same literary and poetic legacy which is vital to bring people of both countries closer to one another, he added. Siddiqui emphasised on taking mutual steps for preservation and promotion of calligraphy. Published in Daily Times, March 21st 2018.
