MIRPURKHAS: The quality of drinking water in Mirpur Khas and Tharparkar districts was reported poor and not up to the quality to use. Sindh Environment Protection Department (SEPA) Director General Naeem Ahmed Mughal has directed the concerned authorities to submit a report regarding the check and balance of drinking water being supplied to the masses of Mirpur Khas and Tharparkar districts. While presiding over a meeting after visiting the office of regional environment protection Mirpur Khas, he expressed displeasure over the supply of poor quality of drinking water to several parts of the districts. It is learnt that Environment Protection Department Mirpur Khas Regional In charge Sohaib Rajput submitted the efficiency report that highlighted the problems being faced by the department. The SEPA DG also expressed his anguish over the quality of water of Jarwari Shakh and directed to issue notices to concerned officers of Municipal Committee Mirpur Khas and asked the officers to ensure purified water supply to the citizens. He also took the notice of not having the landfill sites in Mirpur Khas and also directed the concerned officers not to allow cane crushing of those sugar mills in next season unless their own water treatment plants would be installed. He directed the EPA Mirpur Khas regional incharge to issue notices to those housing schemes and building projects involved in violation rules and regulations. He asked to conduct personal hearing of all the hospitals of Mirpur Khas regarding municipal waste who are involved in violation of Sindh Hospital Waste Management rules. He directed the officials to issue notices to those cotton and ginning factories involved in violation of Environment Act.
