Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader Haleem Adil Sheikh, on Tuesday, filed a petition against Sindh Chief Minister Murad Shah over attempts to influence the by-election in NA-205, Ghotki. According to details, PTI parliamentary leader in Sindh Assembly filed a formal petition with the Election Commission of Pakistan Islamabad, against CM Shah, Local Bodies Minister Saeed Ghani and Provincial Adviser Murtaza Wahab. He told media sources outside the ECP office, here on Tuesday, that Prime Minister Imran Khan had visited Ghotki to offer Fateha prayers for the deceased federal minister Ali Muhammad Mahar. While no media conference was held on the occasion, only notice was issued, Sheikh asserted. He added that three days earlier, Sindh Chief Minister had met Jam Saifullah Dharejo, seeking his support for the by-polls. Yet, the ECP hasn’t taken any notice. The leader also alleged that Nisar Khuhro had held a press conference but still, the ECP did not take any notice. Sheikh claimed he wanted to tell the ECP that the government machinery was being used in Ghotki. CM Shah was said to have directly attempted to influence the by-polls in Ghotki. The PTI leader noted that as per ECP’s code of conduct, the government was barred from influencing the elections in any manner. However, the Sindh CM openly breached this code of conduct, Sheikh alleged as he maintained that we had urged the ECP to take action in this regard against CM Shah and his team.
