Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), has announced plans to rename parks in Rawalpindi soon PHA Chairman, Asif Mehmood, said this during an informal interaction with the journalists while noting that the proposal to rename the Nawaz Sharif Park and Shehbaz Sharif Park would be discussed in the next meeting of the body’s board of directors. He maintained that since these parks had been constructed with public money, it would be better to associate them with names of national heroes instead of political personalities. The chairman said that the authority would also facilitate special children in parks and grounds once a week. He claimed that PHA was coordinating with different organisations working for special children in this regard. PHA Horticulture Director, Sheikh Tariq, asserted that more than 5000 plants had been distributed in public since February 27. Over 250 tree saplings would be planted in each union council of Rawalpindi this week, he further added. The authority has also imposed a ban on smoking and flying kites in the parks in the light of numerous complains from the citizens while directing its staff to ensure the implementation of the said order.
