Police on Sunday produced the six personnel of Counter Terrorism Department allegedly involved in Sahiwal incident in the duty magistrate’s court in Sahiwal. The court, on the request of investigation officer, ordered to send the suspects to jail for identification parade. The suspects would be produced before the court after one week. Meanwhile, the joint investigation team (JIT) probing into the killings would arrive at the yousaf wala police station on Monday to start its investigations. It is pertinent to mention here that Khalil, a resident of Kot Lakhpat, Lahore, his wife Nabeela and their 13-year-old daughter Areeba were killed in the firing on their car by the counter terrorism department (CTD) personnel on a highway in the Qadirabad area of Sahiwal district on Jan 19. Earlier, the Lahore High Court (LHC), on January 24, had summoned the Sahiwal Joint Investigation Team (JIT) head along with the incident’s report. Punjab govt seeks public help in Sahiwal shooting probe A single judge bench headed by LHC Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan was hearing a petition, seeking a judicial probe into the tragic incident where four members of a family and an alleged terrorist were killed by Punjab Counter Terrorism Department personnel in Sahiwal on Jan 19. The Punjab government on Sunday sought assistance from people for evidence on the Sahiwal shooting incident. Following the formation of a joint investigation team (JIT) on the alleged encounter, the provincial authorities have now appealed to the masses requesting their cooperation in probing into the deadly incident. In Sahiwal tragedy, ‘Strong evidence’ of driver’s links to terrorists found, as per govt’s stance. “Anyone with solid evidence or leads is requested to come forward,” advertisements put up around the city read.
