Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar paid a surprise visit to District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Sheikhupura without any protocol, where he visited different wards and inquired after patients. Taking notice of a complaint regarding unavailability of medicines and purchasing them privately by the father of an injured boy at the trauma centre, CM suspended Dr Muzamil. Patients and their attendants at Emergency Medical and ICU also complained about unavailability of medicines. Expressing his displeasure, the chief minister said that unavailability of medicines despite the provision of resources worth billions of rupees was a matter of grave concern. He also visited the Police Facility Center at the hospital and said that he had taken the responsibility of improving condition of hospitals and would ensure the right of standard medical facilities to patients. CM said that the trend of leaving patients in vulnerable state would not be tolerated. He said that surprise hospital visits would continue till patients are satisfied. “This is your government and CM is yours, so every needful step will be taken for your welfare,” he promised to patients. Buzdar suspends municipal corporation officer over poor cleanliness arrangements in Sheikhupura Later, the chief minister paid a surprise visit to District Prison Sheikhupura. He visited barracks of women and men as well as kitchens where he inspected the quality of food. The chief minister inspected the media facilities for jailbirds and directed authorities concerned to take immediate measures for treatment of three prisoners. He expressed displeasure over the absence of doctors at the hospital. He scolded the jail superintendent over the complaint of a prisoner. He also asked women prisoners about their problems and assured them of their resolution. Moreover, Buzdar directed installation of lights outside the barracks of women prisoners. The chief minister warned of strict action officials demanding bribe from prisoners. Meanwhile, CM exhibited dissatisfaction over cleanliness arrangements in Sheikhupura during his visit to the city. He said that garbage should be dumped properly. He directed officials concerned to continue anti-encroachment operation against big wigs across the board. Taking notice of poor condition of cleanliness, the chief minister suspended Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Tariq Zia. The officer who has failed to meet his responsibilities does not deserve to stay at his post, he said. “Traffic system of city needs to be improved,” he said and directed formulation of a comprehensive plan for traffic management. Chief Minister also went to Hiran Minar Park in Sheikhupura and interacted with picnickers there. People made selfies with the CM. He also visited Bara Dari of Hiran Minar.
