Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Wednesday, met with Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar at the assembly chamber. Different matters of mutual interest including adoption of steps for the promotion of good governance came under discussion. The Punjab chief minister said that basic facilities are being enhanced to provide necessary relief to the people. “The people have already rejected the elements engaged in negative politics through the power of their votes in the general elections,” He said adding that the time to befool people with empty slogans has passed and made it clear that only the politics of continuous work will prevail now. “Wrong priorities of the past badly affected the people and they were put in trouble instead of being given relief. On the other hand, the incumbent government immediately started working on providing various facilities to the people as public service is the real essence of democracy,” the CM added. PA Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said Punjab was vandalised in the previous tenure and the credit of bankrupting the province goes to the former government. He regretted that welfare projects of his tenure were put on hold based on personal egos. “The general public suffered due to delays in different welfare-oriented projects. The people have taken their revenge from the past rulers through the power of their vote. The present democratic era is a period of the people and merit and good governance will reign supreme instead of personal likes or dislikes,” the speaker added. Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) assembly members also held meetings with the CM in his assembly chamber. Talking on the occasion, Sardar Usman Buzdar said that Pakistan is being transformed in a positive manner under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan. “Only a leader like PM Imran Khan will wriggle the country out of crises,” he said, adding that our direction and commitment are right. “Assembly members are my team and their problems will be solved on priority basis,” he said, adding that decisions are being taken with consensus and continuous hard work is being done to improve lives of the people. Unique and unprecedented work will be done for the betterment of the people which was not done by others in years, he said. Usman Buzdar said that Pakistan has started moving towards the journey of change and Imran Khan’s dream of making a new Pakistan will be fulfilled at any cost. He said that new Pakistan will be made by employing hard work, passion and commitment. Every human being will live in a respectable manner and people will be provided justice and other facilities at their doorsteps. He said that new local bodies system will give new dimensions to the concept of public service. The local bodies system is being established on new lines by devolving the power to the genuine representatives of the people at grassroots. The imbalance of authority in the incumbent system has ruined the local bodies system. Therefore, the PTI government is going to introduce such a local bodies system which will provide relief to the common man, the CM concluded. Separately, Buzdar congratulated senator-elect Dr Shahzad Wasim and extended good wishes to him. The CM said that Shahzad Wasim’s success is a victory of Khan’s policies. “Wasim will also play his role in the development of new Pakistan, he said. The way PTI has achieved success in the senate elections, it will also win the by-elections. It is hoped that Wasim will play his active role for the supremacy of Constitution and the legislation, concluded the CM. Buzdar also cast his vote in the PA for the senate seat. Different assembly members also called on the CM at his chamber to seek solutions of their problems. The CM heard them out and issued instructions for their solution. He remained there for four hours and held meetings with different delegations as well. New Chief Secretary Yousaf Naseem Khokhar called on Buzdar, where the CM got the chance to extend good wishes to him and added that PTI government is following the policy of good governance, transparency and austerity. “The prosperity and wellbeing of the people is our mission. Our prime agenda is public service and the menace of corruption and nepotism will be nipped in the bud,” concluded the CM. PTI MPA from PP-13 Amjad Mahmood Chaudhary called on Buzdar and presented a cheque worth Rs 2,500,000 for the Dam Fund and also announced to donate his entire assembly pay to the said fund. “As long as I am the MPA, my monthly pay would be sent to the Dam Fund,” MPA Amjad Mahmood Chaudhary said.
