Three children of a same family died due to gastro on Sunday, near village Wahi Pandhi in Kachho belt, some 60 kilometers away from Dadu city. Another 12 children are in critical condition due to gastro, as they wait for the teams of doctors to arrive at their homes. Talking to the local journalists, the father of the two deceased daughters; Sumera Noor and Khanzadi, Ramazan Birohi said that he could not afford the treatment of private hospitals, which became the reason behind delayed treatment and eventual death of his children. He said that all ill children had visited local hospital Wahi Pandhi but they could not get proper treatment there. He said that other ill children are still in critical condition and if the medical teams will not reach to treat them, they can die. He appealed to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, chief secretary Sindh Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah to direct the local officials of People’s Primary Healthcare Inititiave (PPHI) and health officials for taking preventive measures for the protection of lives of ill children. According to DHO Health Dr Zahid Hussain Dawach, Wahi Pandhi hospital come under the PPHI, and the PPHI officials are responsible for these incident of recent deaths of children. He said that inquiry was started over the deaths of children. He said that team of doctors was constituted to provide all kind of medicines and treatment. Dr Zahid Hussain Dawachh said that if any officials of health department or PPHI found guilty in inquiry related with deaths of children, he would recommend the secretary health department for stern action against them. According to district manager PPHI Dadu, Rehman Gul Abbasi, this was not a non-curable disease and to confirm the cause of death, teams would be sent. According to Civil Surgeon of the civil hospital Dr Razak Junejo about deaths of children, he refused that these children were not reported at civil hospital Dadu and teams of doctors had not visited at site to treat the ill children till Sunday evening. Deputy Commissioner Dadu, Tariq Manzoor Chandio has taken the notice on deaths of children and directed to DHO Dadu to send teams of doctors in the affected area.
