Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar visited the under-construction building of the Punjab Assembly on Thursday and directed the officials of the Building Department and other institutions undertaking construction work to complete the building at the earliest. Talking to media person on this occasion, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif was responsible for Rs 3 billion hike in the cost of Punjab Assembly’s new building. He said that next year, the budget session by the Grace of Allah, will be held in the new building, but regrettably, the building has not been completed in 12 years. Further delays and lethargy in this regard will not be tolerated. He said there will be no compromise on quality. The building should be completed on emergency basis. Pervaiz Elahi said that former Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif was responsible for the delay in the construction of the building and additional expenses should be charged from him. Earlier, the speaker and the CM planted a sapling in the compound of the new building in furtherance of the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan. Elahi said that Shehbaz Sharif did not provide funds for Punjab Assembly for 10 years considering it our established hospital. He said that he has asked the CM for early completion of Seerat Academy and recycling of old pages of the holy Quran started during our tenure. Elahi said that projects for recycling of the old pages of the holy Quran and reprinting of the holy Quran to distribute among madrasahs and Seerat Academy have begun. While visiting the building, Senior Secretary Assembly Rai Mumtaz Babar, acting secretary Inayatullah Luk, Communications & Works Special Secretary Ibrar Ahmad, Planning & Development Board Member Dr Muhammad Abid Bodla, National College of Arts Principal Professor Dr Murtaza Jaffery, National Engineering Services of Pakistan Vice President Muhammad Ibrar A Khan and other concerned departments officers were also present.
