PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak expressed grief over the fact of government universities not being according to the international standards. While addressing a conference held under the auspicious of Higher Education Commission (HEC) in Peshawar, he let it be known that the KP government allocated 28 percent of the budget to education. The chief minister also revealed on the occasion that promotion would be given only to those who gave out better results. Advisor to the Chief Minister Mushataq Ghani revealed that universities were established during the past governments just to appoint vice chancellors on the basis of personal favours. He let it be known that the current government is trying to fix the system of universities established during the tenure of Awami National Party. The conference was also attended by Higher Education Commission (HEC) secretary as he also announced that two universities would be set up within Chitral and Buner.
