Bollywood diva, Kangna Ranaut has called for a ban on item songs in Indian movies. She said that she is against item songs as she believes that they promote obscenity. Over these years, we have seen Kangna Ranaut in different kinds of roles. However, like her contemporaries Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra, Kangna never did an item song. According to media reports, Kangana in an interview said that item songs should be banned in all films. She also said that she herself would never want to feature in one.
Kangna Ranaut further explained that she believes these songs should not be made because they propagate vulgarity and project content that’s explicit in nature.
“Well… I don’t do item numbers because there is nothing to be done in them. They are… they are obscene, they are at times unfair, most of them are sexist. What is there to be done in them? I personally feel they should be banned. I can’t be a part of something which is so toxic for us, our society, our children,” she commented.
Kangna Ranaut also said that she has grown a lot, not just as an actor but also as a person. When asked in which area she is wiser- personal or professional, Kangana answered, “As an individual. There is an exceptional arc that I have acquired as a person who is skilled in their craft, but there is always room to learn the craft more, whether it is acting or the subtleties of storytelling or writing. But what I have gained as a person is extraordinary. I think my life has shaped me into an individual who is extraordinary, can be better, but who definitely has got… you know… The way I am as a person is a lot better than I am as an actor.”
Kangna is known for her gutsy attitude and maintaining her stance firmly. She is one of the few actresses that have been vocal against decades-old nepotism that prevails in the Hindi film industry.
The three-time- national award winner is famous for her brilliance in portrayal of influential roles, making her one of Bollywood’s highest-paid actresses. Her films have noticeably entered the coveted 100-crore-club time and again without the presence of any superstars in them. In the past, she received a lot of appreciation for her fight against fairness brands. On the work front, she is currently busy with the shooting of her epic historical drama ‘Manikarnika’, in which she will be seen playing the role of Queen Jhansi.
