GUJRANWALA: Awami Muslim League Leader Sheikh Rasheed said the Sharifs will be behind bars in the event of the reopening of the Hudaibiya Paper Mills case, PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is involved in LNG scandal. He was talking to media after condoling the death of his friend’s mother on Wednesday. Sheikh Rasheed said CM Shahbaz Sharif was involved in Dawn leaks and if the Hudaibiya case will be reopened then the Sharifs would definitely be behind bars. He said it is impossible that Shahbaz Sharif will participate in the election while serving as the CM. He should first resign from the CM’s office. He said Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was involved in a huge LNG scandal, NAB should reopen his case and try him under the rules. Human traffickers: FIA teams have arrested five human traffickers, including two proclaimed offenders. It was stated that the accused Muhammad Asif, Aleem Akhtar and Altaf Hussain were arrested from Gujrat while POs Qadir Ahmed and Nisar Ahmed from Sialkot while seven Pakistani passports were also recovered from them. ‘Zero corruption’: IG Arif Nawaz Khan has said that all possible steps would be adopted to make the police department corruption free, recruitment, posting and placement of police officers and SHOs was being made purely on merit. It is the responsibility of the police to gain the public’s support and show their best performance. He expressed these views while addressing a police darbar. Additional IG/RPO Muhammad Tahir, CPO Ashfaq Khan, DPOs, SDPOs of all the districts and other police officers also participated in the darbar. The IG further said that only professional, dedicated and bold police officers/officials could perform their duties in the field, adding the chief minister assigned him the task to ensure provision of justice to the people. He made it clear that criminals had no space in the province. The IG said all police officers/officials would be given certificates and cash for excellent performance while poor performance would not be tolerated. He asked the police officers to dedicate themselves towards serving the community and improve their professional skills through advance trainings. He said the government was committed to police reforms, which he said, were not possible without public support. The IG announced that risk allowance for officers and officials of police department would be soon restored while the promotion’s channel is also being upgraded in the police department. He said a modern hospital for the police force is being constructed at Lahore while such types of hospitals would also be constructed at all regional headquarters in the province.
