By Arsalan Haider LAHORE: Speakers at a seminar, organised by Punjab University’s Pakistan Study Centre, agreed that Pakistan needs a stable political, economic and cultural system in order to resolve the Kashmir issue. PU Vice Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran, former ambassador Masood Khan, political analysts Lt Gen (r) Gulam Mustafa and Dr Hassan Askari Rizvi along with Pakistan Study Centre Director Dr Massarrat Abid expressed these views while addressing a seminar titled ‘Kashmir Issue: The Way Forward’. Members of the faculty and a large number of students were also present on the occasion. While addressing the ceremony, the PU VC said knowledge was the headspring of power and respect, adding that India was involved in a number of terrorist activities that took place within Pakistan. Masood Khan on the occasion said, “We must create awareness among all the segments of our society and then look forward to finding a solution to the Kashmir issue,” adding that the country should be able to present the issue in a perfect manner and lobbying on this matter at all levels should also be done. Lt Gen (r) Ghulam Mustafa said in order to understand the sensitivity of the issue, it is important to know the geography and history of Kashmir. He said that India illegally occupied Kashmir, as has no document to prove the legality of the matter, adding that all the rivers of Kashmir naturally flowed into Pakistan, which is the reason why Quaid-e-Azam declared it as our jugular vein. Kashmiris had rendered countless sacrifices, which send a message that they would decide their fate themselves, he added. Mustafa said that the Kashmir issue could not be resolved by Pakistan and India alone or together, unless international powers take serious interest into the matter. Later, a vibrant question-answer session was held and souvenirs were presented to the guests.
