KHAIRPUR: A meeting of the Divisional Task Force to end Polio was held at Commissioner Sukkur office on Friday, presided over by Commissioner Sukkur Muhammad Abbas Baloch.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners, Additional Commissioners of district Sukkur, Khairpur, Ghotki and members of the divisional task force, health department officials and other concerned officials.
The meeting was briefed that 435 measles cases were reported in Sukkur division during the past five months since January 2017 – including 122 cases of 48 month old children, 128 children of 24 months to 47 months, 49 children of 12 months to 23 months and 46 cases were reported of children up to 11 months.
The meeting was informed that in May, 151 cases of measles were reported in Sukkur division including high scale 69 cases reported in district Khairpur.
The Commissioner Sukkur Muhammad Abbas Baloch showed concern over the increased rate of measles in the division and directed the PPHI and API to contact the concerned deputy commissioners and send teams to the affected area for vaccination. He ensured hundred percent protective vaccines and applauded the efforts of LHVs and vaccinators for their work in the anti polio campaign and urged to award them. He asked the meeting to point out the weakness and informed the WHO representative.
The WHO representative informed the meeting that the polio campaign succeeded by 100 percent in district Shikarpur and Ghotki and urged for more work in other districts.
The focal persons, Dr. Abdul Hai Khoso informed that 34 cases of AFP were reported in district Sukkur, DHO Khairpur Dr. Nisar Ahmed Phulpoto informed the meeting that action was taken against 131 people due to their poor performance during the anti polio campaign.
