Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry had revealed that a tussle among party stalwarts Jahangir Khan Tareen, Asad Umar and Shah Mahmood Qureshi inflicted massive damages on the party. In an interview, the federal minister revealed that Asad Umar was removed as finance minister by Tareen, and later Tareen was ousted from the party when Asad Umar regained strength. The minister went on to say that Jahangir Tareen had lobbied against Asad Umar that led to his resignation for the Ministry of Finance in April 2019. He said later Asad Umar, after being appointed as federal minister again, ensured the removal of Jahangir Tareen’s influence from party politics and decision-making. Fawad also criticised his own party and said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf failed to bring change as promised in the country due to its own mistakes. The federal minister said Prime Minister Imran Khan was elected by the people to bring reforms in the political administration and the people had high expectations from him. He expressed dismay that bureaucrats have taken over the system due to weaknesses among political forces and they had to face delay in reformation of the system.
