PESHAWAR: A three-member delegation from UK – Department for International Development (DFID) paid a day long visit to Haripur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and met Deputy Commissioner, District Nazim and different senior government officials in the district. The delegation had a visit to one of the community awareness camp for diabetes control and had interaction with the community as well. Led by Matt Carter from the DFID National School of Government International (NSGI), the delegation is reviewing the impacts of the Public Financial Management and Governance reforms introduced in KP through DFID funded Sub-National Governance Program (SNG). Adil Islam, District Nazim Haripur and Tasleem Khan, Deputy Commissioner Haripur welcomed the delegation and presented them with honorary souvenirs. “We are committed for reforms that impacts lives of the common citizens in a positive way. The support of the DFID has been instrumental in bringing the reforms from national and sub-national to the community level”, said Adil Islam, District Nazim Haripur. SNG Programme is a joint effort of the Government of KP and DFID for bringing improvements in core governance areas in the province and districts. Started in 2013, SNG has worked with the provincial and district governments to provide strategic level technical assistance in planning and PFM functional areas. The main thrust in providing support to the government in these areas includes public finance reform in the province, support to improved planning and budgeting at district level, strengthening service delivery monitoring through innovative technologies and dedicated units, the establishment of District Delivery Challenge Funds and the provision of technical assistance to local administrations in 6 districts in KP (Karak, Lakki Marwat, and D.I. Khan, Nowshehra, Buner and Haripur).
