Sir: It is highly worrisome that in Turbat, electricity load-shedding does not have any fixed schedule. There are frequent power outages throughout the day and night, which robs people of their well-deserved sleep. These frequent power outages happen because there are multiple illegal connections throughout the city. When we do have power, the voltage is very low because of the air conditioners that run on these connections. The situation is so bad that a transformer seems to need replacing everyday. The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) employees are fully aware of this state of affairs. Unfortunately, rather than address it, they accept bribes from the people with illegal connections and collect high bills from registered connections. On top of all this, they also demand that we pay them for fixing transformers, which is definitely illegal. I hope the concerned authorities will take notice of my letter, and do something to alleviate the plight of Turbat’s legal and registered electricity consumers.
