ISLAMABAD: The Pharmaceutical Industry Association Islamabad-Rawalpindi has termed the amendment in the drug act 1976 as a black law and announced to prevent further supply to the hospitals. The Pharmaceutical Industry Association Islamabad-Rawalpindi will hold a protest at Mall Road Rawalpindi against the amendment carried out by the government till the government did not take back its decision. The owners of many groups of industry have announced to shift their industrial units abroad if their demands were not fulfilled adding that they would execute self immolation along with their family members . The President of the Association Chaudhary Munawar Hussain and other members have issued a combined statement that the amendment in the drug act 1976 should be withdrawn or else further supply would be closed to hospitals all over the country from midnight between Sunday and Monday. “Nawaz Sharif’s government has sympathy for the poor people and we have a hope that decision will be taken back,” they added. According to the law, in case of any faulty medicine, the manufacturer will have to face 10 years and sellers would face 3 years punishment. They said that after passing the amendment the drug inspector will become a symbol of fear and no one would prepare drugs in country. They demanded that black sheep in their field should be eradicated but the manufacturers should not be treated as terrorists and the government should cooperate with them.
