Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari continued his tirade against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government on Monday and claimed that all members of the opposition parties had been arrested. Addressing a PPP rally in Uch Sharif, Bilawal said Nawaz Sharif was arrested first and then his daughter Maryam Nawaz. “Even former president Asif Ali Zardari is behind the bars despite the fact that he hasn’t been convicted in a single case,” he said. “They aren’t even providing him (Zardari) proper medical treatment,” he said. He said the PTI government had completed a year and the entire nation was not convinced that Prime Minister Imran Khan wasn’t elected, but selected. “He is just a puppet.” “We all know how the 2018 general election was rigged. Your votes were stolen… The polling agents were kicked out of the stations,” he added. Bilawal said the government was trying to suppress the nation’s voice. “They are even trying to turn media into ‘selected’ media so that journalists are not able to talk about the problems of the people… It is okay for the media to air videos of RAW agent Kulbhushan Jadhav, an India pilot and terrorists, but the same TV channels have been barred from showing interviews of Zardari, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman. This is selected media,’ Bilawal said. He said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and economy could not function together. “The business community also says this every time it meets the army chief. This government has treated the white-collar class as thieves. NAB and the FBR [Federal Board of Revenue] are being used to target people,” Bilawal added. He said that despite pressure, the PPP would not compromise on principles and would continue struggling for the resolution of the masses’ issues. He said that the masses had come out to send the puppet government packing, adding that his party only supported JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to an extent of public gathering, and the permission of party office-bearers and workers would be needed to stage a sit-in. “We will fight against the PTI government till our last breath to provide the people their basic rights.” The PPP chairman went on to say that it was an anti-poor government, adding that his party had always provided employment opportunities to the people, while the PTI-led government provided benefits to the rich segments of society and completely ignored the poor people. Bilawal further said the government was killing farmers economically, and added that electricity, gas and dollar had also become expensive in the country. The incumbent government has pushed to masses into the tsunami of inflation, he said.
