ISLAMABAD: Information and Broadcasting Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb on Sunday said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will open avenues for mutual prosperity and development of the two nations. Speaking to the inauguration ceremony of the CPEC Cultural Caravan, Marriyum said that the strong relationship between Pakistan and China is not only reflected economically and culturally, it also is deeply rooted in every walk of life. The information minister added that cultural activities have blossomed during democratic rule in the country and that artists have played an integral part in promoting peace in the country. She also stressed that the government is determined to revive and promote the film industry in Pakistan. Marriyum also announced that various mutual agreements for promotion of arts, culture, film and other fields have been signed with China, according to which Pakistan’s artists, film stars, sports personalities and people from other professions would pay visit to China for taking part in different activities. Addressing the attendees, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing also stressed on the importance of the CPEC and relations between the two nations. He said that CPEC is not only vital economically, it will also lay foundations for people-to-people interaction via cultural activities.
