HYDERABAD: A division bench at Sindh High Court (SHC) Hyderabad circuit declared that Yushra Shahani should start her job as a lecturer at Sindh University (SU) Jamshoro Media and Communication Studies Department. Yushra had filed a petition challenging university’s appointment of Latif Gaad as the successful candidate after an exam held to fill the vacancy. Justice Muhammad Iqbal Mahar and Justice Muhammad Khan were hearing the petition by Advocate Irfan Qureshi. The advocate of the petitioner said that result of an exam to fill the vacancy of lecturer was announced on the university’s official website in which Yushra Shahani secured 72 marks out of 100 in written exam and secured an interview, but the Sindh University administration allocated the position to Latif Gaad, who got 47 marks in the written exam. He informed that according to Higher Education Commission and its policy for appointments to 17 and 18 grades, the minimum marks required for the position were 50 percent. It was said that screening test scores for the vacancy’s exam were released on April 5, 2017, in which the name of Latif Gaad was atop, after securing 47.75 marks and Yushra Shahni was second-to-last with 72 marks.
