Karachi: Foreigners and Diplomatic Security Forum has been established to review the existing security arrangements and adopt mechanism on modern lines to further improve the security to Foreign Diplomats and missions based in Karachi.
This was decided at a high-level meeting of Security Officers from different missions held at Special Security Unit Headquarters which reviewed the security measures being adopted by the police on the instructions of Government of Sindh
The Commandant Special Security Unit Mr. Maqsood Ahmed said that all possible professional steps are being adopted to ensure security to the Foreign Missions and Diplomats and added that all law enforcement agencies are collectively working on same page to improve law and order situation and crackdown the activities of terrorists.
The need for better coordination and communication was stressed in the meeting between foreign missions and the Government agencies. The participants also appreciated the efforts of the Government of Sindh in the crackdown the activities of the criminals.
Maqsood Ahmed, Commandant Special Security Unit informed about the management, administration with particular reference to professional training in Counter Terrorism provided to commandos of Special Security Unit. Haseeb Afzal Baig SSP Foreign Security Cell and Adeel Chandio from Foreign Office were also present in the meeting.
The participants accompanied by Commandant SSU Maqsood Ahmed visited various sections of the Special Security Unit and appreciated the professional standard maintained in the law enforcement outfit.
The Commandant further informed that the country’s first Special Weapon and Tactics (S.W.A.T) team comprises of highly trained and well equipped commandos including lady commandos has already been setup and remains alert round the clock as a quick response force to challenge any emergency situation. The Pakistan Army is also providing professional training to SSU commandos, he added.
Later, the participants witnessed the mock exercise conducted by the commandos of Special Weapon and Tactics (S.W.A.T) team where hostile situation is created by the terrorists.
