Sir: Many car owners have installed LCD screens in their vehicles nowadays. Having this system in the rear side of a car is fine but installing it on the front panels of the vehicle is certainly far more dangerous than using cell phones while driving. The overall road safety situation in Pakistan is miserable. The citizens in general and the traffic police in particular are neither fully trained nor aware of this very important aspect of civic life. Officials of the traffic police come from regular police who are seriously deficient in the art of policing. Chaos at every intersection of major cities bears evidence to the conduct of these poorly trained and ill-equipped officials. To enforce the law in its entirety and spirit and to ensure the safety of citizens on the roads, it is imperative to create an environment for the purpose of road safety by creating awareness and education among the masses and proper training of the police force. It is also suggested that the organ of traffic control be separated from the regular police force as has been done in various major cities of Punjab where the traffic warden system has been working effectively for the last few years.
