RAWALPIND: The Punjab government has accorded approval to set up two new graveyards to be built on modern lines in Rawalpindi due to lack of more space in existing graveyards. These proposed graveyards are likely to be built in Dhok Munshi near Chaklala and Adiala Road (Rakh Dhamial). These graveyards will be constructed on the modern lines like graveyards which are under the control of CDA in Islamabad. The data of buried person will be preserved in such a manner that even after 100 years the citizens will face no difficulty in tracing out the grave of their relatives. Plot number of the grave will be allotted to the legal heirs at the time of burial. A special bus and a shuttle service will be run on the eve of shifting dead body to graveyard for burial. Special staffers will be appointed in the graveyard to ensure cleanliness. It is pertinent to mention here that there are six graveyards in Rawalpindi at present which are 200 years old. The land mafia and influential persons have illegally constructed plazas and commercial centres in these graveyards.
