LAHORE: The Pakistan Hockey Federation on Wednesday announced names of 31 junior players for attending a short duration camp here from August 16 to prepare for the second leg of Europe tour. “The Under-21 camp will commence at Johar Hockey Stadium to groom players for the tour which will start from August 22 to September 12,” said a spokesman for the PHF. In the first leg of the tour, the junior team toured Germany and participated in a four-nation tournament last month. “During the second tour in Spain, Pakistan juniors will face hosts national junior side in a three test series. While later in the Netherlands, they will play matches against some of the top teams from Hoofdklasse (Dutch Premier Division),” he added. It is pertinent to mention that the Dutch league is the most competitive domestic hockey competition in the world with top sides fielding mega international stars from different countries. “This European tour is a part of preparation for the Junior World Cup to be held in Lucknow, India later this year,” he added.
