DADU: Citizens, social activists, and civil society organizations have appealed to Sindh’s chief minister to take notice of selling of narcotics in Dadu district. Political parties and leaders of civil society organizations warned to launch a drive against the selling and usage of narcotics in all parts of Dadu. They said the selling of narcotics including heroin, opium, charas and locally made whisky has increased in various towns of Dadu district, paralyzing the youth. They added that hundreds of addicted youth and children are seen roaming in Dadu, Johi, Mehar, KN Shah, Radhan, Piarogoth, Khudabad and Makhdoom Bilwal and Moundar towns. It should be noted that Dadu has parts of jurisdictions that are constituency of Sindh chief minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and PPP MPA Pir Mujeeb ul Haq but no action has been taken against narcotic sellers. They demanded posting of honest and brave police officers to senior posts in Dadu to control this menace. Mohammad Hanif Khushik, a social activist, complained that narcotics are being sold by criminal and influential persons with the support of local police in different parts of Dadu city. He said that usage and selling of narcotic is frequent at Lal Hindi graveyard, workshop, railway track, in parts of union council I, II, III, IV of Dadu city in the jurisdictions of A and B section police stations. Amjad Hussain Mastoi, a civil society activist, said police and narcotic sellers have become partners, which is the reason police don’t take any action against the culprits. Deedar Hussain, a citizen, said the usage of narcotic is destructing lives of young generation so it is necessary to control this menace on urgent basis.
