Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday took a dig at Prime Minister Imran Khan by tagging him and asking him as to who was running the ‘Abu Bachao Muhim’ (Save father movement). Tagging Prime Minister Imran Khan, Bilawal wrote: “Who is running the ‘Abu Bachao’ campaign?” On Tuesday, a special court formed to hear a high treason case against former president Pervez Musharraf had sentenced the former dictator to death for imposing a state of emergency on November 3, 2007. Bilawal said his father was kept in custody without tangible proofs. Addressing a party convention, he said his father, former president Asif Ali Zardari, did not compromise on his principles and managed to get a bail in the ongoing proceedings for himself and his sister, Faryal Talpur. He added that historic decisions are currently being undertaken by the courts. “Me and my political party are in full agreement with the process and the verdicts being issued by the institutes designated for the dissemination of law and justice,” he said. “Me and the entire country will continue to struggle for democracy, we seek justice on the Benazir Bhutto case as well,” he added. Bilawal said this was the ‘last selection’ as his party has decided to only accept transparent elections from now on. He said people will have to decide whether they want an independent Pakistan or a country which is ruled by a ‘puppet’. He said it is unfortunate that the PPP which was projected to win with a two-thirds majority wasn’t able to do so due to rigging. “In 2007, our leader Benazir was martyred,” he said. “In 2013, Asif Zardari was the first one who said that this was an RO (returning officer) election,” he added. Bilawal said his party rejected the 2018 election results and decided not to accept any polls in future which are not held transparently. He said the party has decided to mark former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s death anniversary at Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi on December 27. Bilawal lashed out at the government and said Pakistanis has not sought freedom only to be held captive in the current setup. He said neither people nor politics is independent in this country. “Forget about saying what you want, nowadays you can’t even tweet what you want to tweet,” he said, adding that struggle for justice will continue till all cases are ruled in favour of the country and its people. Earlier, Bilawal Bhutto visited Garhi Khuda Bux on Wednesday and offered prayers at the graves of party founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, his mother Benazir Bhutto, Nusrat Bhutto, Mir Murtaza Bhutto and Shahnawaz Bhutto.
