KARACHI: Three players from Pakistan have been selected to represent the Rest of Asia team in the Alchemist Cup Scrabble Tournament, it was announced on Friday. The tournament is scheduled to be staged in Penang, Malaysia from Dec 5 to 9, 2018. The Alchemist Cup is a world team event dubbed as one of world’s toughest scrabble tournaments featuring several current and former world champions. Sohaib Sanaullah, 16, got the opportunity of his life when Sherwin Rodrigues of India dropped out from the Rest of Asia team due to personal reasons. Sohaib, the youngest player in the competition, will relish the chance of rubbing shoulders with the world’s top players. Former world youth champion Moiz Baig and eight-time national champion Waseem Khatri are also in the Rest of Asia team along with Goutham Jayaraman of Singapore and Lakshan Wanniarachchi of Sri Lanka. Singapore: Hubert Wee, Toh Weibin, Jeremy Khoo, Ricky Purnomo, Marlon Prudencio. Thailand: Panupol Sujjayakorn, Chollapat Itthi-aree, Akkarapol Kwansak, Thacha Koowirat, Jakkrit Klaphajone.
