PESHAWAR: The Provincial Education Minister Muhammad Atif Khan claimed to have planted 6 million trees in district Mardan aimed to combat the fall out of global warming and climate change.
He was addressing to participants of a function held to inaugurate tree plantation project at Mardan Ring road area of Babini under the supervision of Mardan Forest division.
Official of the forest department and representatives of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) were also present in the plantation ceremony. Atif Khan said that successive governments of the province paid little attention to nature and forest sector of province which caused the province environment and revenue.
He said that proper investigation would be launched against those elements involve in the crime of forest cutting carelessly, adding that PTI government has launched tsunami billion tree project to fill the gaps and deter the global warming in the region.
Atif Khan said that cutting of forest should be taken a heinous offence against the nature and nations who ignore these facts will suffer due to calamites of global warming.
Some tracts of lands at district Mardan were selected where thousands of trees would be planted which will not only increase the beauty of the city but would help out environment related issues he maintained.
The whole machinery of provincial government collectively taking concrete steps to make the tsunami billion tree project successful and ensure the environment sustainability for the next generation he maintained.
