DADU: Daily Times learnt on Friday that the construction work on District Headqquarter Hospital Dadu has remained suspended for the last three years. During this time, the building has been devastated due to the negligence of the concerned authorities. The boundary wall has also been damaged. The District Head Quarter Hospital of Dadu was inaugurated by PPP Co- Chairman Asif Ali Zardari in 2012 and had to be completed in 24 months, however it has still not been fully constructed after almost 5 years. Social organizations and locals of Dadu district fear that if the construction work isn’t immediately started and promptly finished, it would be likely to collapse at any time. The District Headquarter Hospital of Dadu was meant to comprise 450 beds and 16 blocks. 15 acres of land was purchased by the Sindh government and a billion rupees were spent on its construction. Now, dogs, cats and other animals have made it their home but authorities remain unconcerned. Ex-president of the Chamber of Commerce, Qudair Bux Solangi expressed his concern about the Hospital saying many blocks, including Medical block one and two, lower staff one and two, mortuary, parking, mosque and its surrounding safety boundary wall were damaged due to the use of sub-standard material employed by local contractors. More than two billion rupees were spent apparently for the construction of the hospital, but no work was done by authorities. Social Worker Dedar Ali told Daily Times that more than 35 labourers who had worked at the hospital have been deprived of their salaries for the last six months. Solangi believed local contractors have embezzled their 15 lac rupees and demanded justice. Talking to Daily Times, MPA Dadu Pir Mujeeb ul Haque said that he has informed the Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali about the paused construction work of the hospital and he has in turn assured him that action should be taken against corrupt contractors who have embezzled the millions of rupees from the money meant for the construction of the hospital. The citizens of Dadu have also appealed to the Sindh government to take immediate notice and complete the construction of the hospital so that they can get access to basic health facilities.
