LAHORE: Renowned US based tabla player Salar Nader Khan will enthuse Lahoris with his performance in a musical evening titled “Sur Taal”, which will be held at Shakir Ali Museum today (Tuesda). Salar Nader Khan was flanked by Pride of Performance recipient Ustad Shafqat Ali Khan during a jointly held press conference at Shakir Ali Museum on Monday. The musical evening is being organised by Shakir Ali Museum Pakistan National Council of the Arts in collaboration with Sham Chaurasi Musical Circle. On the occasion, several performances will be held by Salar Nadar Khan, singer Ustad Shafqat Ali Khan, Faizan Ali Khan, Nadir Ali Khan and Aris Ali Khan who will enthral the audience. Speaking on the occasion, Shafqat Khan said that we want to present a soft image of Pakistan in front of the world and want to change the mindset of people who thinking that Pakistan is a country full of terrorism. He said that we want to promote tourism in Pakistan by inviting foreign musicians, singers and artists in music events. Salar appreciated Shafqat’s mission to present a soft image of this country. He said that he was going to perform his first show in Pakistan for which he was very excited. He said that he had come on the invitation of Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s daughter to perform at Ali Institute, which was held a few days ago in Lahore. He commented on Lahori food saying, “It is tasty and spicy. I am very impressed by Lahoris’ hospitality.” He expressed his desire to return to Pakistan again. He has been practising table playing since the age of seven, under the wing of Ustad Zakir Hussain. Nader began his professional career accompanying world-renowned classical musicians from South Asia during their visits to San Francisco. His first classical concert was with master Pakistani vocalist, the late Ustad Salamat Ali Khan, as well as his virtuoso sons Shafqat, Sharafat and Sukhawat.
