SHIKARPUR: To motivate and inspire students of engineering and computer science from various universities of Sindh, Sukkur Institute of Business Administration (IBA) University organised a competition with the title SIBACom 2017. Students of electrical engineering and computer science from various universities including: Sukkur IBA University, Bahria University, PAF Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology (PAF-KIET), University of Sindh, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto (MUET SZAB) Khairpur Campus, Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology (QUEST) Nawabshah, QUEST Larkana, MUET Jamshoro, DHA Suffa Karachi, Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur, and Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) participated in the competition. The competition was organised by students of electrical engineering department under its Sukkur IBA IEEE chapter and was supervised by ME Programme Coordinator and Assistant Professor Dr Muhammad Asim Samejo. Students from 17 colleges of upper Sindh including: Sukkur, Larkana, Ghotki, Pano Akil, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Khairpur and others visited the event and took keen interest in different projects showcased by the students of different universities. The competition included competitions between 57 teams, line following robot competition, speed programming competition, gaming competition (FIFA & Counter Strike) and circuit designing competition. Sukkur IBA University Acting Vice Chancellor Zahid Hussain inaugurated the event and visited different stalls, established by students of various universities. He appreciated the hard work of students, who had come up with different projects. Assistant Professor Asim Samejo said gone were the days when parents wanted their children to become doctors and engineers, but “now we have to produce scientists, who can help invent various technologies that facilitate today’s busy living”. The event was organised to bring professionals and potential students to one platform to motivate and inspire them to opt for modern sciences instead of running for becoming doctors or engineers alone, he said.
