Sir: It is highly unfortunate that the Turbat district hasn’t had access to decent cellular internet for the last 10 months. The lack of cellular internet is a major problem as internet connections via cable are very expensive. The internet is no longer a plaything for the rich today; rather it is a basic necessity. The lack of internet creates difficulties for students and businesses as well as people trying to keep in contact with their loved ones in far-off areas. The situation is especially unfortunate for students as the internet is an essential research tool in the modern world. Students also need access to the internet to file forms for admissions to educational institutions and filing applications for scholarships. In short, Turbat’s people are at an extreme disadvantage to the rest of the world until this issue is resolved. It is my request to the concerned authorities to take note of the problem and take immediate action. ADIL SHIKARI Turbat Published in Daily Times, September 25th 2017.
