The Police, on Friday, informed that they have chalked out a foolproof security plan under which 3500 cops will be deployed across Larkana for smooth passage of the month of Moharram. The police told that the cops are being given special training along with the scouts and Razakars (volunteers) to prevent any untoward incident during the Ashura processions. It was revealed by the sources that out of a total of 52 CCTV cameras which were installed at different points by the former district government six years ago, as many as 16 are dysfunctional since long time and no efforts have been taken to make them operational. The CCTV cameras installed at the Empire Road, Attaturk Tower, Lahori Muhalla, Chandka Bridge, Sachal Colony, Chandka Medical College and other spots are out of order. The Larkana Police had demanded in the past to install at least 300 such cameras in the entire city to control law and order situation of the city but it is yet to be implemented despite passage of six years, the sources added. The Police Control Room Incharge, Waheed Zafar, told the media that 52 CCTV cameras were installed by the former district government in 2012 but no budget was allocated for their maintenance. He further said that the police had suggested installation of 300 cameras but it was rejected. Hindu trader attacked by unidentified assailants Unknown armed men attacked and seriously injured a Hindu vegetable trader, Bagh Chand, near Sabzi Mandi in the limits of Ali Goharabad police station on Friday. The local people rushed him to the emergency ward of the Chandka Medical College Hospital where his treatment was underway. The trader told the media that he was returning home when some armed men attacked him from behind with knives and he became unconscious and fell down.
