Sindh Health Minister Azra Fazal Pechuho has rejected the university girl’s accusations of being sexually harassed by a teacher terming the girl a ‘liar’. Azra, sister of former president Asif Ali Zardari, said she personally got the matter investigated and came to know that the girl was lying about the sexual harassment. Farzana Jamali, a final year student of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (SBBU), had accused Professor Aamir Ali Khattak, head of the University’s English Department, of harassing her for last five months. She had also accused the SBBU vice chancellor (VC), Arshad Saleem Arain, of supporting Khattak. While addressing the media, the health minister termed the student’s allegations as ‘scripted drama’ and said: “Farzana was scolded for remaining absent from classes. In reaction, her family assaulted the teachers.” The student leveled allegations after the police registered a case against her father for assaulting the teacher, she claimed. The Sindh High Court had taken notice over the girls’ accusations and ordered the district and sessions judge and Nawabshah DIG to probe into the matter. Reacting to the Sindh health minister’s statement, Farzana said: “No female can take herself to such abuse, how it’s a drama, prove it.” In her video message she said being a female, Azra should support her stance. #Sexualharassment: Student reacts to Sindh health minister's statement Sindh Health Minister Azra Fazal Pechuho receives backlash for accusing student of lying about #sexualharassment Posted by Daily Times on Monday, September 10, 2018
