Police officers, education department officials and social activists on Thursday carried out six separate rallies in Dadu and Jamshoro cities to pay rich tributes to national heroes and martyrs of Pakistan. Reportedly on the eve of the Defence Day, the University of Sindh Pro-Vice-Chancellor (PVC) Prof Dr Muneer-ud-Din Soomro organised a programme in the university’s campus in Dadu where students performed tableaus and honoured martyrs of rangers and army. Besides, English department head Dr Aftab Ahmed Charan, Information of Technology (IT) department head Dr Kalsoom Panhwar, Business Administration department head Prof Mansoor Ahmed Soomro and many members of teaching faculties participated in the programme. Separate programmes were held at the Ustad Bukhari Government Boys Degree College and Government Girls Degree College in Dadu. Colleges director Prof Dr Abdul Hameed Channar and assistant director Pir Ghulam Rasool encouraged students, teachers and members of civil society to mirror the patriotic spirit of martyrs and play their constructive role in development and prosperity of the nation. Likewise, police department organised a programme at police headquarter where Dadu Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tanvir Ahmed Tunio honoured martyrs of Pakistan. Another rally led by the University of Sindh’s Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Fateh Mohammad Burfat and SSP Bashir Ahmed Birohi was carried out in Jamshoro. The rally initiated from the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Convention Center and culminated to the Allama II Qazi Central Library and Arts faculty while the participants including students and faculty members held six feet national flag of Pakistan. Another colourful event was organised at the Shaikh Ayaz Auditorium of Arts faculty where National Anthem, patriotic songs and tableaus were played. Meanwhile, Prof Burfat, registrar Prof Dr Salim Ahmed Chandio, headquarters SP Suhai Aziz Talpur and Prof Sumera Umrani addressed participants of the gathering and commemorated martyrs for their bravery and sacrifice for the nation. Later, programmes were held at the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences and the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) in Jamshoro. Moreover, the Mehran University Institute of Science and Technology Development (MUISTD) organised a programme on the eve of the Defence Day in which MUISTD co-director Dr Zahid Ali Memon presided over as the chief guest of the event.
