LAHORE: At least eight people, including two women, were killed in different parts of the city during Chand Raat, Eid Day and second day of Eid-ul-Fitr in the provincial metropolis. The first incident occurred in Khana area where a man was gunned down by his uncle (paternal) over property dispute on Chand Raat. According to duty officer of the police station, the deceased, identified as Majid, was on his way in a car along with his father and brother when accused Abdul Hamid and his two sons named Rashid and Sajid approached them and opened indiscriminate fire on their vehicle. As a result, three persons received bullet wounds. Upon being informed, police, rescuers and a number of locals reached at the spot and shifted them into a nearby hospital where Majid succumbed to injuries while the condition of other injured said to be critical. Police said that family members told the police a property issue continued between two brothers for last many years and they quarreled over the issue several times but locals intervened between them and tried to resolve the matter. Police has registered a case against accused Abdul Hamid, Rashid and Sajid on the complaint of deceased’s father and removed the dead body to city mortuary for autopsy. The second incident occurred in Al Madina Colony Ghaziabad area where a man strangulated his wife over domestic issue. The deceased identified as Irum wife of Adil. Police said that some locals informed the police through telephonically about a dead body of woman in a house. Police reached the spot and found Irum lying dead in a room. Police said that the Irum’s family members told that Adil had got second marriage with Irum seven years before. They often quarreled over Adil’s unemployment. They also said that he strangulated their daughter over issue. However, when police arrested Adil, he claimed that both husband and wife injected drug injection and slept in room while Irum might have died due to excessive use of drug. Police said that the actual cause behind this incident could be cleared after postmortem report. Body was shifted to city mortuary. In another incident, a 16-year-old boy died when his bike collided with metro bus boundary due to one wheeling near Ravi Road. The deceased identified as Hammad was overspeeding along with his other friends when Hammad’s bike collided with Metro bus boundary. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital where Hammad succumbed to injuries. Police handed over the dead body to his heir after fulfilling the legal formalities. Furthermore, some unknown persons killed a man and threw his body in canal near Nawab Town area. Police said that deceased is yet to be identified and some passerby saw a body was floating in a canal and informed the police. Police said that some unknown killed this man at other place and later they threw the dead body in canal. Body was removed to morgue. Three persons including a traffic warden lost their lives during road accident in different areas of the city. A traffic warden Adnan was on his way on a bike when his bike collided with road divider and received serious injuries. The injured was shifted to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. A 40 –year-old woman Kalsoom was crossing main road near Kot Lakhpat when a speedy car hit her and escaped.
