LAHORE: A team of Kinnaird College for Women University Lahore won the Pakistan’s first ever Intercollegiate All Female Debating Championship 2018 that was organised by Debating Society of Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Medical and Dental College Lahore. The team of Government College University (GCU) was declared as a runner up team by organisers. The response garnered by the ‘Khalifa Parliamentary Debating Championship 2018-Women’ was very positive. Multiple teams from various educational institutes across the country such as Kinnaird College for Women University, Forman Christian College, Ameerud Din Medical College, SIMS, UCL, Government College University, Lahore Alma, Fatima Jinnah Medical University and many more participated with enthusiasm and vigour.
The aim for inaugurating the women championship was to showcase Pakistan as a progressive nation, which believed in empowering its women. Through this event, women had a chance to speak freely about their opinions on various topics and argue about the daily dilemmas faced by any community all over the world. It was a reflection of their skills and voracity which made the event possible and provided different perspectives about the society.
