
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to preserving and promoting Pakistan’s cultural heritage, saying the country’s diverse traditions and values play a vital role in strengthening national unity and social harmony.

In his message on the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, observed on Thursday, the premier said Pakistan stood with the international community in celebrating cultural richness, shared heritage and civilizational diversity.

He said cultural heritage promoted social inclusion, mutual respect and intellectual solidarity at both national and global levels. Describing Pakistan as a country enriched with diverse languages, traditions and cultural values, the prime minister said this diversity remained a defining feature of the nation’s identity and collective strength.
Shehbaz Sharif said positive cultural values contributed significantly to tolerance, harmony and unity within society. He added that the government was committed to a comprehensive policy framework aimed at preserving and promoting both tangible and intangible cultural heritage across the country.
The prime minister said the National Heritage and Culture Division was actively working to document and preserve Pakistan’s cultural assets. He added that strengthening cultural institutions and supporting artisans and creative communities remained among the government’s key priorities.
Highlighting efforts at the international level, Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan was pursuing recognition from UNESCO for Ajrak, Rabab and Glacier Grafting under global cultural heritage lists.
He also referred to initiatives such as the “Creative Economy Accelerator”, “Digital Cultural Platform” and “Heritage Marketplace”, which aim to empower artisans, promote Pakistani cultural products internationally and create employment opportunities.

The prime minister said the establishment of the “Centre of Excellence for National Cohesion and Outreach (CENCO)” reflected the government’s focus on promoting dialogue, cultural cohesion and national harmony.
He urged civil society, educational institutions and youth to contribute towards preserving cultural heritage and strengthening shared positive values.
