Three Indian nationals have been confirmed dead after a US airstrike targeted an oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman. The Gulf of Oman oil tanker strike has increased tensions in the region and prompted a diplomatic response from India following the incident.
According to reports, the US military has maintained its blockade around the Strait of Hormuz. During these operations, US aircraft targeted an oil tanker that was allegedly failing to comply with repeated instructions issued by American forces. The strike reportedly disabled the vessel and caused significant damage.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the attack and stated that the aircraft targeted the ship’s engine room. According to CENTCOM, the crew did not respond adequately to multiple warnings and directions, leading US forces to take action against the vessel.
Indian media reported that 28 crew members were on board the tanker, including 24 Indian citizens. Three crew members who had been missing since the attack have now been confirmed dead. Authorities identified all three victims as Indian nationals.
Meanwhile, India strongly protested the Gulf of Oman oil tanker strike and summoned the deputy chief of the US mission in New Delhi. Indian officials formally registered their concerns over the attack and expressed serious objections regarding the use of force against the tanker.
