‘Mere Pas Tum Ho’ is an upcoming Pakistani drama serial which will go on air from August 17, 2019. Written by Khalilur Rehman Qamar and directed by Nadeem Baig under the banner of Six Sigma Production, the serial will mark actor and producer Humayun Saeed’s comeback on the small screen after almost three years, for we did not see him on television after ‘Dil Lagi’ which was also an ARY project. From its teasers, ‘Mere Pas Tum Ho’ presents itself as a serial revolving around the theme of financial issues, which have affected almost every person belonging to the middle class in the current times. Humayun Saeed seems to be playing an honest, hard-working man and Ayeza Khan, his wife in the serial, plays a woman with a desire to live an affluent life. What will probably come in their love life is money, the desire for which and the failure to gain which will create rows between the couple. As always happens as a result of any kind of quarrel between parents, the children turn out to be badly affected in terms of both their mental and physical health. In this serial, Shees Sajjad is playing the role of the affected child, whose scenes from the teasers suggest that ‘Mere Pas Tum Ho’ is not simply going to be about the relationship of a husband and a wife, but also about the consequences of their relation on their child. Sajjad, the child-star who has been appearing in commercials mostly, is seen in the drama’s teasers as someone highly disturbed and alone, yearning for company and a healthy relation between parents In this serial, Shees Sajjad is playing the role of the affected child, whose scenes from the teasers suggest that ‘Mere Pas Tum Ho’ is not simply going to be about the relationship of a husband and a wife, but also about the consequences of their relation on their child. What then marks this serial as unique is that Humayun Saeed will not be acting as a partner only, but as a father as well, and it is after quite a long time that we will be witnessing him in a fatherly role. The last time we saw him playing a loving father was in “Omar, Daadi aur Ghar Waale”. It is going to be an experience of its kind watching an actor who has mostly played the hero figure in the role of a neglected child’s parent. As a result, not only wives or husbands trying to survive in these bad times will be able to relate to the serial, but also parents and children, who in times of poverty, are not affected as individuals only, but as people connected to others in their lives as well. Thus, it will also be interesting to see how playwright and lyricist Khalilur Rehman Qamar portrays the psyche of children belonging to broken families or unhappy households. He is someone we have mostly observed writing about the complexities of love and its ability to turn people into completely different human beings. How Khalil is able to see children and their minds is something that will be new for the audience from his pen. It is hoped that he will be able to do justice to this topic as well.
